Clinical Practice
Roger Frie is a registered psychologist with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia and a licensed clinical psychologist in New York State. He is a practicing relational psychotherapist and psychoanalyst and has worked in private practice, clinic and hospital settings for 25 years. In addition, he has trained in multiple therapeutic modalities, including cognitive-behavior therapy, dialectical-behavior therapy and existential therapy.
Roger maintains a psychotherapy practice in Vancouver. His psychotherapy office is located on West Broadway in Kitsilano. He can be reached by phone at 778-388-3089. Roger also provides psychotherapy supervision to a range of mental health professionals and leads study groups in the field.
He is Affiliate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of British Columbia, where he teaches in the Department of Psychiatry, and an Associate Member of the Department of Psychology at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV. He has ongoing professional ties to mental health centers in Canada and the United States. Before moving to Vancouver, he was Senior Attending Psychologist at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York and Assistant Clinical Professor of Medical Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at Columbia University.
His psychoanalytic affiliation is with the William Alanson White Institute of Psychiatry, Psychoanalysis, and Psychology in New York (interpersonal psychoanalysis; see ), where he is a faculty member and supervisor. He teaches at psychoanalytic institutes and organizations across North America.
