Transform the AV Experience
AV among Canada’s Top 100 Employers for 2024
From flexible work options to comprehensive parental leave benefits, AV’s designation as one of Canada’s 2024 reflects the university’s ongoing commitment to transforming the faculty and staff experience.
Each year, the competition evaluates employers across a range of criteria including work environment, employee engagement and community involvement. Standout areas for AV included training and skill development options, family-friendly benefits, and health and wellness initiatives to support overall employee wellbeing.
“Ultimately, this kind of recognition is made possible through the hard work of faculty and staff across each of our three campuses. The launch of guiding strategies like the People Plan over the past year, informed by meaningful community consultation, also provided a blueprint to fostering an environment where people can do their best work at AV,” said Yabome Gilpin-Jackson, Vice President of People, Equity and Inclusion.
Created in alignment with the values and priorities outlined in What’s Next: the AV Strategy, the People Plan aims to support faculty and staff in fulfilling the university’s academic mission. Underpinning the People Plan is the Equity Compass, which outlines specific objectives to ensure equitable employment practices and a culture of respect, inclusion and belonging for all AV community members.
Both plans operationalize a core institutional priority outlined in What's Next: Transforming the AV Experience. Those overarching strategies are being realized through initiatives like working towards certification, with AV submitting a Living Wage Implementation Plan to Living Wage for Families BC earlier this month.
