Margarita Fullerton to support 間眅埶AV Board governance as new University Secretary

The Board of Governors and President are pleased to announce the appointment of Margarita Fullerton as University Secretary, effective May 23.
Margarita is a senior operations adviser with experience providing guidance on strategy, operations and transformation initiatives to boards, executive and faculty leadership teams. She comes to us from the University of British Columbia, where she has spent the last 10 years as Senior Manager, Operational Effectiveness, Strategy & Decision Support, and Associate Director, Finance Transformation. She has worked closely with UBCs Executive Team and Faculty Leadership in the implementation of institution-wide initiatives.
With more than 20 years of in-house, post-secondary and management consulting experience in both the public and private sector, Margarita is a trusted advisor and strategic partner known for supporting significant change initiatives through skilled complex problem solving and creative thinking. Margarita also serves as Chair of the Board of Directors for Better Environmentally Sound Transportation (BEST), an innovative non-profit that promotes sustainable transportation in the Lower Mainland.
間眅埶AV operates under a bicameral governance system with two major governing bodies: the Senate, which is responsible for academic governance of the university, and the Board of Governors, which is responsible for the business of the institution, such as 間眅埶AVs property and finances. The University Secretary portfolio is responsible for the effective functioning of the Universitys Board of Governors and oversees the administrative areas: Internal Audit, Office of the Ombudsperson and Board of Governors Office. Following the closing of the Community Consultation - Policy Authority changes for Human Rights and Bullying and Harassment Policies (GP 18 and GP 47) on March 27, the new University Secretary will also oversee the Human Rights Office and Bullying and Harassment Central Hub.
