Mechatronic Systems Engineering Co-op Sample Job Description
Company Overview:
Our Canadian facilities are focused on our core fuel cell competencies, which include the production of membrane electrode assemblies, integration and testing of fuel cell stacks, assembly and testing of motive modules, as well as support of other products required through our engineering services contracts. We continue to make investments in our manufacturing capabilities and processes which are targeted at supporting high volume production and automated processing to facilitate future growth.
Position:
4 months Co-op
Co-op Position:
Working as a co-op student to support and assist in the development and improvement of manufacturing processes including but not limited to MEA production, production testing, statistical analysis and monitoring of new and current production processes.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting in design, develop, implement and troubleshoot new and existing manufacturing processes;
- Assisting in design, specify and commission tools, jigs, fixtures and tests;
- Identifying and justifying projects to improve manufacturing capability, yields, productivity and capacity;
- Developing shop floor work instructions/build sheets, process flows and quality control document; and
- Analyzing and presenting test results

Students from the following disciplines are appropriate for this opportunity:
- Mechatronic Systems Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Integrated Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
Key skills include:
- Ability to work in the lab or production floor, be very "hands on"
- Mechanical assembly process experience
- Data analysis using Excel and data presentation
- Strong oral and written communication ability
- Basic understanding of lean manufacturing is an asset
- Previous experience working with AutoCAD is desired but not required
