Seeking Students
Upon successful completion of the “Beedie Co-op: Intro to Co-op” Course, your Co-op Coordinator will contact you about next steps which will include instructions on accessing the Co-op job postings.
Gain Access to Job Postings
FOR BRAND NEW SEEKING STUDENTS (THOSE WHO HAVE NEVER BEEN SEEKING BEFORE)
- At the beginning of each semester, your Co-op Coordinator will reach out to you and invite you to attend a MANDATORY FIRST TIME CO-OP SEEKER SESSION (1 hour online).
- Upon completion of this session, you will be ‘released to seek’ (to view and apply for Co-op jobs in MyExperience)
- You will be added to the Co-op Seeking Students Canvas Course which will provide you with important updates and announcements for seeking students.
- Ensure that an updated copy of your Resume, SIS form, and Co-op Transcript (with grades from the previous semester) is uploaded in the documents section of myExperience.
- International Students** In your Beedie Co-op: Intro to Co-op Course, you should have applied for your first ever Co-op work permit. If you have not yet received your Co-op Work Permit, your Coordinator will need to wait until it arrives to release you to seek.
FOR RETURNING SEEKERS (THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN SEEKING IN PREVIOUS SEMESTERS):
- You no longer have to complete a Seeking Application Form in order to be released to seek (effective Spring 2024).
- At the beginning of each semester, ensure that an updated copy of your Resume, SIS form, and Co-op Transcript (with grades from the previous semester) is uploaded in the documents section of myExperience.
- Your Co-op coordinator will send you a detailed email each semester informing you that you are ‘released to seek’ (to view and apply for Cp-op jobs in MyExperience)
- You will be added to the Co-op Seeking Students Canvas Course, which will provide you with important updates and announcements for seeking students.
- International Students** You must have a Co-op Work Permit with an expiry date that is AFTER the end date of your intended Co-op work term. If your Co-op Work Permit needs to be renewed, you must do so BEFORE applying for Co-op jobs.
Studying Students
Who are "Studying Students"?
If you’ve been accepted into AV Beedie Co-op, are registered in classes but not applying to co-op jobs, you are considered a “Studying Student”. You may have just come back from a work term or postponed starting applying to co-op jobs after completing your pre-requisite semester. You are still in the co-op program but are just not seeking or working right now.
