Janelle Lapointe
Janelle Lapointe is an Afro-Indigenous climate justice activist, community organizer, writer, public speaker, and educator from Stellat’en First Nation. In her role as senior advisor, Indigenous strategic approach, at the David Suzuki Foundation, she leverages her expertise in Indigenous rights, climate justice, intersectional environmentalism, Indigenous climate mitigation and adaptation, movement-building, and community organizing for climate solutions.
Her recent involvement in climate action initiatives includes her efforts as council member for SevenGen Energy, her role as community organizer for Common Horizon, and her ongoing membership in a grassroots Indigenous climate adaptation working group. Her publications and media appearances include CBC Vancouver’s Early Edition and The Breach Media. Janelle is a graduate of UBC’s Climate Justice Study Collective and ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s Community Capacity Building Certificate.
