Leadership in Action: Coaching, 360 Assessment, and Prototype Project

This course will frame the challenges of leadership in a complex world, help you apply the program’s concepts to your own context, build community amongst cohort members and a network of coaches and mentors, and leave you on a clear learning path that will take you beyond the program.

Activities include:

  • Completing a 360° Assessment
  • Developing a personalized Leadership Development Plan
  • Designing and implementing a Prototype Project of your choosing
  • One-to-one executive coaching (4 hours)

What you will learn

After completing this course, you’ll be able to do the following:

  • Demonstrate a nuanced and holistic understanding of the qualities that characterize the complex landscapes in which today’s leaders act and how they impact the nature of leadership required
  • Relate the six mindsets for leading in complexity introduced in this program (adaptive, developmental, collaborative, equity, whole-system, catalytic) to your own context
  • Analyze personal, team, organizational and network structures, policies and practices using these six mindsets, and recommend ways they can be amended to better meet the needs of working in complexity
  • Distinguish between planning and prototyping approaches, and create and implement an example of a prototype in a complex system
  • Articulate your own strengths and areas of learning as a leader, integrating your own and others’ perspectives

How you will learn and be evaluated

  • Prepare to spend time on applied project work throughout duration of program
  • Plan for advance reading
  • Plan for assignments to be completed outside of scheduled sessions
  • Participate in individual mentoring sessions

You will be evaluated on:

  • Demonstrated application of what you’ve learned
  • Engagement with other students
  • Leadership development plans
  • Prototype presentation, report and reflections
