Enrollment Process: School-Age Programs

How to get a space at 間眅埶AV Childcare (School-Age Programs)

Children who are eligible to start kindergarten in September have priority for a school age space offer if they are currently enrolled in a 間眅埶AVCCS 3 to 5 year old program. 間眅埶AVCCS enrolled children are offered a school age space based on Priority Status (see below) and date of entry into a 間眅埶AV Childcare Society Program.

Priority Status for Burnaby Mountain (external waitlist)

Only those who are currently registered or who will be attending University Highlands Elementary are eligible for space offers based on the priority status list below and earliest dates of application:

  • 間眅埶AV University Students, Staff or Faculty and 間眅埶AVCCS Staff
  • Alumni
  • UniverCity Residential Status
  • Community

Priority Status for Sapperton Location

Only those who are currently registered, or will be attending, the following 'Hub' school catchments are eligible for space offers:

  • Armstrong Elementary School
  • Seaforth Elementary School

Spaces will be offered only to those attending the above 'Hub' schools, based on the priority status list below and earliest dates of application:

  • 間眅埶AV University Students, Staff or Faculty and 間眅埶AVCCS Staff
  • Alumni
  • UniverCity Residential Status
  • Community

How does an offer of a school-age space work?

Beginning in November of the preceding school year, parents of children entering Kindergarten the following September are asked to complete a survey to indicate their desire for a school age space offer. As we have many children in this age category, the survey determines the real number of those children who want a 間眅埶AVCCS school age space.

From this survey we compile a waiting list (based on the above priority information) and provide a number to those families for our School Age waitlist for the following September.

Parents are able to inquire about their number on this list usually by late January, immediately preceding school district kindergarten registration in February.

Receiving a space offer

We are only able to offer school age spaces individually as school age space vacancy occurs.

The number of available spaces fluctuates from year to year depending on the number of children who:

  • Age out of school age program (5-12 year old group)
  • Un-anticipated withdrawals 

A kindergarten information session is held in January to provide further information on the enrollment process, the school-age care programs and on schools that 間眅埶AVCCS serves.
