Black caucus inclusion statement
Specific demonstrated and sustained effort will be made to ensure student representation and empowerment on all Black Caucus decision making and activities including the participation of all Black student groups on campus and Black students in various leadership roles across ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV student groups. Much effort will be made to ensure the ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Black caucus is representative of intersectionality in the Black community and effort will be made to ensure all Black people of African descent and distinct voices of Black women, Black LGBTQ2+IAS, Black disabled and Black Indigenous folks are welcome and centered. If you know of anyone in certain positions or anyone that we need to reach out to in any position of leadership or location across the campus, in addition to any newly hired staff or faculty on campus, please notify us at blackcaucus-contact@sfu.ca and we will endeavor to reach out and be of support as needed.
The ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Black Caucus acknowledges that the ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV campuses on which we operate are located on the traditional, unceded territories of the Coast Salish peoples, including the xÊ·məθkÊ·É™yÌ“É™m (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish), SelÌ“ÃlÌ“witulh (Tsleil-Waututh), kÊ·ikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem) and qÌ“icə̓yÌ“ (Katzie) Nations. Unceded means that these territories have never been handed over, sold, or given up by these nations, and we are currently situated on occupied territories.
