What is a highlight of your career so far?
A memorable highlight has been traveling across Canada to talk with youth about democracy. I’ve been fortunate to visit cities I’d never expected to see, thanks to my role at Apathy is Boring. It’s also been a pleasure to speak to ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV classes about my work—it’s always so much fun!
Why did you now choose to get involved with ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV in this way?
I joined the Alumni Council because I loved my time at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV and I wanted to give my time back to the university. The Alumni Council is an excellent opportunity to stay involved and share my skills with a community I care deeply about.
In your opinion, what are the benefits of staying connected to your alma mater, especially at this stage of your career and life?
Staying connected has been incredibly rewarding and beneficial in so many ways. I’ve gained new skills and insights from working with fellow Council members and serving on various committees. Staying in touch with my professors and peers has also reinforced my belief in continuous learning, and I’m especially grateful to the Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies department for keeping alumni engaged.
What is one piece of advice you’d like to pass along to current students who are close to graduation or recently graduated?
Volunteering has been a huge part of my journey. If you’re passionate about something, there’s an organization out there that can use your skills! Not only will you be able to give back, you’ll also develop valuable skills and create long-lasting connections and friendships.
