Computing scientist wins ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s top entrepreneur award
Venture Connection client, Dr. Maryam Sadeghi, founder of MetaOptima Technology Inc., was recently named ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s 2013 Entrepreneur of the Year.
Maryam took the honour at the ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Student Entrepreneur of the Year Annual Competition held on Nov. 16. Her company, MetaOptima Technology Inc., which provides digital health solutions, has developed an iPhone application that gives individuals the knowledge and ability to detect skin cancer in its early stages. Through the use of a low-cost professional imaging device that connects to one's iPhone, people can capture images of suspicious-looking moles for analysis.
"My research is all about empowering patients with advanced technologies and innovative digital health solutions for early detection of skin cancer," says Sadeghi.
Three other Venture Connection clients Kevin Cruz from , Kody Baker from , and Austin Lee from were among the 10 ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV student entrepreneurs semi-finalists who pitched their businesses in a Dragon’s Den-style competition to a panel of industry experts.
