About Our Guest
Dr. Gary Redekop
Dr. Redekop received his MD from the University of Western Ontario in 1987 and completed neurosurgical residency and fellowship training in cerebrovascular surgery in the Division of Neurosurgery at UWO.
He completed graduate studies in the molecular biology of growth factors and angiogenesis, and went on to join the Division of Neurosurgery at the University of British Columbia. After 4 years of exclusively surgical practice, he left to undertake fellowship training in Interventional Neuroradiology at the University of Toronto. Since returning to UBC, he has worked in close collaboration with colleagues in surgery, anesthesia, radiology, and neurology to develop a multidisciplinary service integrating microvascular and endovascular approaches to cerebrovascular disease. He is presently an Associate Professor of Surgery and Radiology, and Head of the Department of Surgery at VGH.
