Stepping into her new role in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Joy speaks to how 間眅埶AV is working to meet the current challenges it is facing, from adapting to online learning and an added strain on mental health, to addressing systemic racism and inequality within the university and beyond.
In this episode, Joy shares her vision for a more equitable, inclusive, and connected 間眅埶AV, centering the student experience and community partnerships. We hear about some of Joys hopes for 間眅埶AVs future medical school and the proposed Burnaby Mountain gondola. She also speaks about her background as a nurse and public health researcher interested in the social determinants of health.

Joy Johnson
Dr. Joy Johnson, 間眅埶AVs 10th president and vice-chancellor, is passionate about 間眅埶AVs academic and research mission.
As president, Joy is committed to enhancing student learning experiences, working towards reconciliation, and advancing equity, diversity and inclusion across 間眅埶AV. Prior to her appointment as president, Joy served as 間眅埶AVs vice-president, research and international from 2014 to 2020. She currently leads 間眅埶AVs equity, diversity and inclusion initiative.
