Woodward’s Community Singers 2016 Workshops

February 12, 2016

February 11, 2016, marked the first session of our Woodward’s Community Singers 2016 Workshops. The workshops take place every Thursday from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM in the Sky Room of the PHS Community Services Residences at the Woodward’s complex. This session will run every week from now till Thursday, July 14.

The workshops are free, drop-in, and non-auditioned, and all voices are invited to join the community choir. Together they sing music from gospel, folk, popular, and contemporary traditions. The choir is directed by Vancouver based singer Vanessa Richards, and includes individuals who live or work in the area, go to school at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV, or come from around the city. There are usually 25 to 35 singers each week, and always a handful of new singers. Participants are also welcome to attend, drink a cup of tea and just listen.

Catch a glimpse of their musical community in action in this short clip:

This choir group began in 2009 at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s Harbour Centre, prior to the opening of the Woodward’s campus. Updates can be found on their Facebook page — .
