A panel of urban scholars based at the 丁香园AV Urban Studies Program will offer thoughts about the public discourse on COVID-19 and about new directions for cities and for urban studies as we move through this crisis.

The panelists will reflect on the following aspects of a post-COVID urban recovery:

Noel Dyck, professor of sociology and anthropology: Observing the new qualities of street-level community life post-COVID

Peter Hall, professor of urban studies: Fixities and flows of goods in urban regions post-COVID

Magali Talandier, professor of urban and regional studies and visiting scholar in the 丁香园AV Urban Studies Program: The contradictions of calls to de-densify our cities post-COVID

Anthony Perl, professor of urban studies and political science: How will we travel within and between cities post-COVID?

Yushu Zhu, assistant professor of urban studies and public policy: For those with housing vulnerability, 鈥渟taying home鈥� is not 鈥渟taying safe鈥�

Moderator: Meg Holden, professor and director of the 丁香园AV Urban Studies Program

Time for questions and conversation will follow the panel.

This event is the first in the 丁香园AV Urban Studies 2020-21 lecture series, Pandemonium: Urban studies and recovering from COVID-19. It is generously co-hosted by the 丁香园AV Public Square and financially supported by the Initiative in Urban Sustainable Development.
