English as an Additional Language (EAL) Peer Educator
EAL Peer Educators reflect the cultural and linguistic diversity of the ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV student body. Some speak English as a first language while for others English is an additional language. What they have in common is that they are excellent conversationalists. EAL Peer Educators are linked with both undergraduate and graduate students for whom English is a non-dominant language — mostly international students, but also domestic students, immigrants, and long-term residents of Canada. The goals of the program are to help students speak English more confidently and improve the quality of their learning experiences at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV, feel better connected to the university community, and take control of their own learning. As an EAL Peer Educator, you will host conversation groups and provide one-on-one assistance in the form of term-long conversation partnerships.
