Statics and Strength of Materials ENSC 385 (3)
Covers fundamental concepts of Statics and Strength of Materials. Statics: 2D and 3D force and moment systems, equilibrium of rigid bodies, analysis of structures, distributed forces, centroids and moments of inertia. Strength of Materials: introduction to stress and strain, axial loading, torsion, pure bending, analysis and design of beams for bending and combined loading, deflection of beams, and transformation of stresses. Prerequisite: (PHYS 120 or PHYS 140) and MATH 152. Students with credit for ENSC 281, MSE 221, or SEE 221 may not take this course for further credit.
