FASS 101 - STT - FASSFirst Special Topics Seminar (3)

Students choose one of 10 FASSFirst Special Topics seminars open only to first-year FASS students by invitation from the Dean’s Office. Top ranked professors from across the Faculty work with students to discover the surprising, profound and interdisciplinary reach of the arts and social sciences. Students will learn to draw connections between values, ideas and evidence while developing core academic skills, from reading to research, writing and dialogue.

FASS 120 - STT - Learning Strategies for Academic Success (2)

Course allows students to develop study skills and learning strategies that will assistant them with their transition to a post-secondary environment; it will facilitate the establishment of connections with self, the cohort, instructors, the university and with individual future educational and career aspirations. Students will receive support to navigate and access available resources.

FASS 351 - STT - Constructing Post Carbon Communities (3)

Explore whether it is possible to make a smooth transition to post-carbon communities. Learn technical, imaginative, and communicative skills to build confidence in a pathway to sustainable energy. Lessons will be considered within the City of Vancouver, which has committed to becoming a "Renewable City" by 2050. Prerequisite: 45 units.
