STT - Methods in Fisheries Assessment REM 413 (4)

Introduction to selected methods for providing scientific advice on the productivity and status of fish stocks, including introduction to fishing methods, fisheries ecosystems, and the effects of fishing. Application of quantitative models of fish population dynamics, data analysis, and the quantification of uncertainty. Focus will primarily on biological aspects of fisheries assessment while illustrating how these interface with economics, social and institutional concerns of managers. Prerequisite: BISC 204 or GEOG 215; STAT 101 or 201 or 203 or 270 or equivalent; MATH 151 or 154 or 157 or equivalent; 60 units.
