Healthcare systems throughout the world are faced with providing 'value for money' at a time of rising costs and increasing demands, it is perhaps inevitable that there is a consequent tendency to turn to the discipline of economics for help. This course is designed to provide a comprehensive but accessible introduction to economic principles and applications for health sciences students. On completion,students will be able to demonstrate how I the application of economic principles in the context of health and health care can help to address health system inefficiencies.
