STT-Intermediate Chinese for Business I CHIN 330 (3)

This course is designed for students of intermediate to advanced levels who want to further improve their language skills with an emphasis on commercial interactions and business-related activities in or with contemporary China. It introduces specialized terms and expressions in business contexts. Through a teaching approach that combines language learning with task-based instruction, this course not only aims to develop students' linguistic competence in business but also to cultivate their intercultural competence by raising their awareness of the Chinese business etiquette and social values/ traditions. Prerequisite: Students with intermediate level of Chinese proficiency. Placement interviews are required upon registration. Students can gain the departmental consent by attending a placement interview with supporting documents such as unofficial High School Transcript, ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Advising Transcript and their ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV ID. Course participants are expected to be able to read in simplified Chinese effectively before registering in this course. Students completed CHIN 152, CHIN 153, CHIN 291 are encouraged to apply.
