STT-Exploring Arts and Social Sciences EAS 110 (4)

EAS110-4 is a 13 week, 4-credit course meeting 4 hours weekly to students in the Aboriginal Bridge programs. Building on the Foundations of Academic English (FAL), it offers an integrated introduction to the reading, writing, discussion and presentation skills required of coursework in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), and embeds Indigenous content and perspectives. Using Indigenous and non-Indigenous texts and materials from psychology, economics, sociology, and philosophy, among others, the course is offered as an integrated lecture/seminar. Students will work independently, with classmates, and with their instructor and are expected to participate actively in class. They will be assigned in-class exercises and writing assignments, and major projects. Participation and ongoing satisfactory completion of all assignments are essential elements of success in the course. Prerequisite: FAL X99.
