STT - Intermediate Persian II PERS 201 (3)
Persian 201 is a practical language course that supports Persian language learners at lower intermediate and intermediate levels to upgrade their knowledge of Persian language to the upper intermediate level. The focus of course materials will be on standard and academic Persian, though colloquial Persian will be introduced whenever necessary. Students at this level are expected to know the Persian language proficiency (grammatical aspects and language structure, vocabulary, language proficiency skills, etc.) introduced in PERS 118, PERS 168, and PERS 200. Knowledge of reading/writing and discourse text comprehension in Persian is very critical. At this stage, the course will help learners improve their Persian language skills so that they will communicate effectively in a Persian speaking community or environment. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to interact with native speakers through all four language skills. Prerequisite: PERS 200 or permission from the department. Students who have not taken PERS 200 must attend a placement interview with the instructor.
