The United States in the World since 1865 HIST 378 (4)

Examines how the United States has influenced the world (and vice versa) from the American Civil War to the 'war on terror.' Topics include: the diplomatic and political history of American foreign relations; economics and the American roots of 'globalization'; race, racism and the movement of peoples; and the relationship between culture and the extension of American interests overseas. Prerequisite: 45 units including nine units of lower division History. Recommended: HIST 212 and 213, HIST 208 and 209. Students with credit for HIST 390 in Spring 2005 may not take this course for further credit.
