REEL 69 COMMENTARY
1. Lazy dockside feeling. Motor sound of boom dozer at start cuts out soon. Slap of water and distant traffic. Lots of city rumble in background.
2'00" "Whattya looking for?" -- starts conversation with recordist who wants some sound advice.
4'00" move off to another part of pier.
*5'15" plane overhead and tugboat toot.
2. Further downstream. Starts with train bell and lots of traffic. Car starting, truck.
1'45" clattering forklift passes by.
2'10" chainsaw, construction sounds, hammering in background, bad wind.
*3'00" motorboat passes by, nice combination with chainsaw.
3. Very short.
4. Receiving area of a store near the docks, contains quiet, small back store ambience.
1'30" distant bell of approaching train.
2'15" "What ya checkin' for?"
2'45" train passes (recorded on "Roll off" equalization mode low frequency attenuation).
5. A not very interesting conversation about sound with dock attendant.
6. Bad wind at beginning, longshoremen (and their trusty forklifts) loading a freighter. Continuous vent noise is from a fan on the ship.
7. Recordists are having a coffee at this aging establishment. Quiet ambience, men's voices, clattering, quiet 60 cycle hum in background.
8. Stopping the car, fast moving traffic passes, some bell rings somewhere.
9. Filling up at gas station.
10. Location near factory operation by side of the river. No water audible, only quiet industrial background. Occasional car passing.
0'30" truck horn.
