REEL 42 COMMENTARY
1. Same place as on Reel 41, last take. Throughout first minute kid whistling, otherwise not too interesting, mainly traffic.2. Bell at crossing rings throughout. Train whistle blasts (1'55") as train passes. Some good strong shunting sounds. Bell stops (3'15") and cars cross tracks. From then on only passing cars.
3. Some geese in distance.
4. Very quiet ambience, some birds and insects.
5. Geese flying over, crickets and a rooster. Wind in bushes.
6. Rooster and geese in distance, crickets, fly flying around microphone (0'40"), car passing (0'50").
7. Lots of geese taking off from lake, very noisy and alive. Traffic in background is quite bad. After 3'30" geese have disappeared or become masked by traffic. Bad wind on microphone towards end.
8. Lots of hustle and bustle and movement in pens, but acoustically mink is not identifiable. Are they feeding?
9. Foxes are much less temperamental in their cages, one hears the occasional scratching and bustling. Geese in background.
10. Scan in stationary car. Interesting scan: contains the usual crap, but also a French speaking station, series of weather reports, beginning of a soap opera, etc.
11. Very quiet ambience with wind in aspens and birches. Some rifle shots (1'05", 1'10", 2'15") in distance.
