REEL 1 COMMENTARY
1. Some wind on microphones2. Some wind on microphones
3. River sounds like a small creek, gurgling quietly, no rushing water sounds. Towards end of take, lots of wind on microphones.
4. Too much wind, useless.
5. Microphones close up; still some wind.
6. Interesting waterflow, somewhat hesitant, as if there is an obstacle. Wind noises.
7. Beginning of take talking above the din, Machine first quieter while idling. As work process begins, sound becomes louder, Not that interesting, general roar.
8. End of grind, machine gets turned off slowly (0'30"), happens in stages. Note quiet ambience after, Farmer complaining about the noise of the machine (1'15").
9. Begins with talk and walk to combine. Then (1'15") combine gets started and idles. Very loud, interesting motor rhythms. Distortions during last minute. Level change (3'20").
10. Combine stops gradually. Note again extremely quiet ambience after (0'40"). Piggies (0'50") sound satisfied, laughing. Very funny. Occasionally wind on microphones.
11. Conversation with Glen Miller. Pot levels down before shotgun blasts (2'00"). Then gunblasts (2'10" and 3'00").
12. Note the various rhythms of a high frequency squeak, a clank combined with continuous motor sound.
13. Note the considerable difference in sound (rhythm and spectrum) from above take. This one is generally much quieter.
14. Yet another one, sounding completely different again. Very quiet and smooth.
15. Louder and contains lots of low frequencies. Rhythmical change of motor intensity: <> <> etc.
16. Interesting frequency range in continuous motor sound. Quieter. Same change in motor intensity, corresponding to movement of shaft.
