OSSICLES

Three tiny bones in the MIDDLE EAR - the malleus, incus and stapes, also known as the hammer, anvil and stirrup - which conduct sound to the INNER EAR. The malleus is connected to the EARDRUM and the stapes to the oval window of the inner ear. The incus joins the other two. See diagram under EAR.
