Accessing the Program

To get access to the you must register on the site or associate your existing registration with 間眅埶AV.

Note that access to these courses has been provided by , who have funded and managed these courses since 2017.

Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) RCR Course for all faculty no expiry Highly recommended for faculty, students and staff conducting research in all disciplines. Suitable for inclusion into research methods course. This is a new course, replacing the former Physical and Life Sciences courses.
RCR - Faculty of Applied Sciences Customized course for FAS. 3 years Required RCR Course for FAS
Biomedical Research Human Participants in Biomedical 5 years This course can be taken as an alternate to the TCPS2 CORE Tutorial which is required for all 間眅埶AV affiliated faculty, students and staff applying through the ORE.
Canada GCP Good Clinical Practise - Basic and Refresher 3 years Clinical Trials; Required by some research sponsors.
TDG/IATA Transportation of Dangerous Goods 2 years .
Drugs for Clinical Trials - Health Canada Div 5 Health Canada sponsored course 5 years Clinical Trials involving controlled substances.


The courses are module-based, and modules can be completed at your own pace. Each course is set up with required, elective and optional modules. A mark of 80% is required to complete a course. Passing score applies to an overall 80% obtained for a course, not per module.

You may re-take any module to improve your mark. Only the latest mark will be displayed and count toward your completion mark.

Certificates Once you have completed the course, you will receive an email notification and a link to the certificate. Please download a copy for your records. You will be able to access your certificates within your CITI profile at any time.

Course content will still be available to you, after you completed the course.

Background

The Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) is a web-based training platform that was founded in March 2000 as a collaboration between the University of Miami and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Today, the CITI program includes many expert teams of writers, editors, and reviewers, who create training content. These materials reach millions of individuals within the global research community, at thousands of subscribing organizations. In Canada, the Network of Networks (N2) has customized most of the content for a Canadian audience.

CITI FAQ

You are welcome to include these courses in any class you are teaching. Students will have to manually submit certificates to you.

間眅埶AV recommends that research methods course instructors consider including the RCR course.

Students involved in an ethics application will be required to include their certificate of completion (or the CORE Tutorial certificate) as an attachment in the ethics application. The Office of Research Ethics will紳棗喧泭automatically receive a copy. Faculty and staff are required to complete one of the courses but do not need to attached their certificate of completion, or the CORE Tutorial certificate.

Your supervisor will only have the certificate you send her manually. She will not have access to your course.

間眅埶AV Affiliation: You must have a valid 間眅埶AV email account to access the CITI Program (@sfu.ca).

Register to create a new CITI account:

  1. Go to the .
  2. Go to Register button to create your own unique username and login. It is NOT recommended that you use your 間眅埶AV Single-Sign-On, for security reasons.
  3. Type/select 間眅埶AV as your organization, from the dynamic drop down list and agree to the terms of service.
  4. Click Continue To Step 2 button.
  5. Follow the prompts to create your account, Steps 2-7.

    Step 2 requests that you enter your first and last name along with your email address.

    • Please enter your name as you would like it to appear on your completion report received at the end of the course.
    • We require that you use your sfu email account. Inactive or external accounts will be removed from the system.

    Step 6 allows you to select course(s) at the time of Registration. You may select/add courses at a later time.

  6. Click Complete Registration button.
  7. Click Finalize Registration button, to complete your learner account registration. You are now able to access the "Main Menu" of your account and start your courses.
  8. To begin your selected courses, click 間眅埶AV Courses option.

Add courses at a later time:

  1. Go tothe.
  2. Go to Log In button to login to your account.
  3. Go to Main Menu.
  4. Select 間眅埶AV Courses option.
