On Pink Shirt Day, let’s show our commitment to ‘lifting others up’
Pink Shirt Day, which falls on Wednesday, Feb. 26, reminds us of our individual and collective responsibilities to treat others with kindness and respect.
Regrettably, recent research studies, including this one led by Professor Wanda Cassidy of ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s Faculty of Education, show that cyberbullying has become widespread in our everyday lives and workplaces.
Dr. Cassidy and her collaborators examined the prevalence of cyberbullying at the K-12 and university levels. Their studies confirm its adverse impacts on students’ health and well-being, as well as on institutional culture.
In the face of these studies, we must redouble our efforts to foster a university environment in which all members of our community are treated in a fair and respectful manner. You can learn more about ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s policies to prevent bullying and harassment here.
