Welcome to an exciting new year at 間眅埶AV
Welcome to a new year and a new semester at 間眅埶AV. I hope you had a relaxing holiday break and are ready for an exciting and productive 2019.
If you are a new student this semester congratulations! Youve made a great choice, and we are pleased to have you as a part of the 間眅埶AV community. I encourage you to take advantage of the many learning opportunities that 間眅埶AV has to offer both inside and outside the classroom.
For starters, check out the Week of Welcome activities that we have planned from January 8 to 10 at all three campuses: .
We are also looking forward to welcoming 650 delegates from 12 universities to the Burnaby Campus for Western Canadas largest business competition. Our Beedie School of Business will host the event from January 11 to 13 which showcases the best in academics, athletics and debate.
For the broader community, there are several ways to engage with 間眅埶AV throughout the semester, including lectures and activities designed to spark dialogue and discussion.
On January 8, we launch a Presidents Dream Colloquium on HIV/AIDS at 間眅埶AV Harbor Centre with an art exhibit and lecture featuring Dr. Julio Montaner, Director of the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS.
間眅埶AV Public Square will mount its annual Community Summit from April 10 to 18. This years summit theme is a timely topic in light of growing concerns about digital propaganda and fake news. Stay tuned for further details on what promises to be an informative and thought-provoking summit.
Also this semester:
- featuring Kathleen Fitzpatrick on Generous Thinking takes place on February 6;
- continues with Wanda Cassidy on February 22 and Ann Travers on March 14;
- 間眅埶AV will be participating in the from March 11 to 13; and
- The annual Surrey Gala will be held on March 1.
Were preparing for the opening of our new at 間眅埶AV Surrey Campus, plus the opening of the new at 間眅埶AV Burnaby both scheduled for 2019.
Also this year, 間眅埶AVs Vancouver Campus marks its 30th anniversary. We hope you will join us at one of the many events to celebrate three decades of teaching, learning and community engagement.
This is just a sampling of the many things happening at 間眅埶AV in the coming months. I look forward to seeing you on campus and in the community and I wish you a rewarding new semester and wonderful new year.
