The flags are flying and the Burnaby Campus is dressed to impress as we welcome graduates, family, friends and distinguished guests to Convocation Mall.
Congratulations to the 2019 graduating class. Your ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV education has enabled you to gain a wealth of knowledge, aptitudes and experiences that will serve you well in all you do. You join a diverse and talented community of over 160,000 alumni living in 143 countries. And no matter where your degree may take you, I urge you stay in touch with ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV in the years to come.
In addition to celebrating our talented graduates, ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV will also bestow on three remarkable recipients:

Lorne Trottier (Doctor of Science, Honoris Causa): A leading innovator, entrepreneur and philanthropist, he is committed to community engagement in Science through the Trottier Family Foundation, which has supported science and technology literacy, research in astronomy and astrophysics, health care and sustainable development.
Nadine Caron (Doctor of Science, Honoris Causa): Canada’s first First Nations’ woman to become a general surgeon, she is an ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV alumna and co-founder and co-director of the UBC Centre for Excellence in Indigenous Health, where she has done pioneering work improving Indigenous health outcomes and guiding Canadian healthcare policy.
