Looking back at a successful year for ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Physics

December 21, 2023

It has been an eventful year for us at the Department of Physics!  The department was featured in 3 out of the top 10 ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV News stories of 2023.

This year we were awarded 2 Canada Excellence Research Chairs, saw a huge Quantum Computing partnership come to fruition, and witnessed a major international Antimatter breakthrough.

We also had a strong showing in the altmetric rankings, with Mike Hayden taking the top spot.  Levon Pogosian and Mike Thewalt were also in the top 20.

Many of our excellent faculty, staff and students were recognized with awards for teaching, research and service. In 2023, 7 faculty members, 1 staff, and 2 students won major awards at the faculty level or above.
