Nick Danzinger: Blair at War

November 24, 2008 â€“ February 14, 2009
Teck Gallery

In March 2003, Monaco-based photo-journalist Nick Danziger and Times Literary Supplement editor Peter Stothard began a month-long photo documentation of Tony Blair's inner political circle, while it considered its options in the lead-up to the Iraq War. The project was originally an uncontroversial assignment to mark Blair's 50th birthday for The Saturday Times Magazine, but grew into a unique study of a man facing a nation divided over the proposal to deploy British forces in the US effort to oust Saddam Hussein.

Danziger and Stothard had extraordinarily free access and often wondered why they were not asked to leave. Five years after the invasion of Iraq, the photographs in this exhibition provide a poignant look at the ordinariness of extraordinary decision-making that affected the lives of many people in the UK and in Iraq.

Nick Danziger is a British-born photojournalist currently residing in Monaco.
