¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Galleries are dynamic centres for the presentation and interrogation of art practices and ideas. There are three distinct galleries: ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Gallery on the Burnaby campus, Audain Gallery at the Goldcorp Centre for the Arts in Vancouver, and Teck Gallery at Harbour Centre in Vancouver. The forthcoming Marianne and Edward Gibson Art Museum, on the Burnaby campus, will join this suite of spaces in early 2025.

Stewarded by ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Galleries, the ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Art Collection includes contemporary and historical works of art from regional, national, and international artists. The ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Art Collection has grown from its inception in the late 1960s to include more than 5,800 works of art in 2021. The collection is diverse and is an important repository for modern and contemporary works of art regionally and nationally. Approximately 1,000 works of art are shown on ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV campuses in public locations year-round. The gallery’s collection is an invaluable resource for study and exhibition.

The Exhibitions Coordinator supports the curatorial program by coordinating exhibitions, exhibition receptions and other related public events presented across all of ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Galleries exhibition sites and platforms. Reporting to the Curator (and to the Director, when she undertakes curatorial projects), the role coordinates external service providers including artwork shipments and exhibition documentation; liaises with community partners and collaborating ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV academic units when necessary; schedules the installation and de-installation of gallery exhibitions in collaboration with the Curator; responds to enquiries; coordinates the activities of volunteers and gallery attendants; schedules and supervises exhibition preparators and exhibition documentation; tracks and maintains records of the Galleries expenses related to exhibitions and related programming; word processes correspondence; and orders supplies. The Exhibition Coordinator also provides administrative support to the Curator by drafting artist contracts; preparing grant applications; updating website and preparing HTML announcements if necessary, and directed by the Communications Manager; and supporting the coordination of activities for the Audain Artist-in Residence program. Additionally the Coordinator welcomes and orients visitors to gallery when sitting the welcome desk, and offers short introductory tours of presented exhibitions when requested.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate for this role is a respectful and inclusive team player, a clear and effective communicator. They are collaborative and self-reflextive. They able to plan and prioritize tasks and maintain a view of the big picture while focusing on all details of exhibition coordination.

  • undergraduate degree in visual art, art history or related field an asset
