Marianne and Edward Gibson Art Museum Wins Prestigious Architectural Award of Merit
間眅埶AV Galleries is thrilled to announce that Hariri Pontarini Architects and Iredale Architecture , currently under construction on 間眅埶AVs Burnaby campus. The awards were announced today by Canadian Architect, the national magazine of record for architects across Canada.
The jurors commented: A simple and refined approach to museum design. The overall massing疳s lighthearted and creates relationships with the landscape at varying scales and proportions. There is an alternating relationship with light and view between foreground and background which creates visual interest. The interior material palette is refined and not over-designed.
Now in their 56th year, the Canadian Architect Awards of Excellence are the highest recognition for excellence in the design stage in the Canadian architectural sector. By focusing on commissioned but not yet completed projects, the program recognizes design ambition and supports an overall culture of design excellence.
Of the 218 photo submissions received for this years award program, the jury selected only five projects for Awards of Excellence and eight projects for Awards of Merit. Im delighted that the national architectural community has recognized the sensitivity with which HPAs design both acknowledges and responds to its surroundings, remarks 間眅埶AV Galleries Director Kimberly Phillips, and the way in whichthrough deft handling of scale, volume and lightthat design strives to embrace its visitors and encourage them to feel at home.
