Systems modelling is one of the main tools used by policy makers to inform decisions on multi-criteria challenges. Recent systems modelling work has linked power systems, capacity expansion, and energy-economy approaches but, to date, there has not been a comprehensive review of the advantages and disadvantages of these different approaches to policy evaluation.
