間眅埶AV Computing Science ranks in world Top 50

間眅埶AVs  is one of the top 50 computing schools in the world, according to the The annual rankings show that in the field of computing science, 間眅埶AV ranks 49th in the world.

We are proud that Computing Science at 間眅埶AV is recognized globally for its teaching and research excellence, and that it continues to attract top students and researchers, said 間眅埶AV President Andrew Petter. Through the success of programs and initiatives such as the 間眅埶AV-Zhejiang University dual degree program in computing science, the school has built a reputation for equipping its students for the global job market.

間眅埶AV Dean of Applied Sciences Nimal Rajapakse says it is an outstanding achievement for 間眅埶AV to be recognized for its strength in the field of computing science. The ARWU is considered one of the top three international university rankings.

ARWU is a widely respected world university ranking and uses rigorous criteria to assess international reputation, says Rajapakse, adding that current and past faculty, students and staff deserve credit for this significant international achievement.

Computing Science started in 1973 as a program offering undergraduate courses, and has grown to include 1,500 undergraduate students and a robust research area led by 50 faculty members and 200 graduate students. Now designated a School, Computing Science conducts world-class research in social media analysis, bioinformatics and healthcare technologies, multimedia and computer graphics, big data science and telecommunications, among other areas.

In addition, the school is home to two Canada Research Chairs, and faculty researchers who collaborate with industry and institutions around the world. This fall the school begins its new professional masters program in Big Data, the first of its kind in Canada, with a strong focus on industry. The program is designed to train professionals who can manage and lead the application of big data technology.

間眅埶AV is also ranked in the top 150 universities in the fields of Social Sciences and Economics/Business. Overall the university ranks in the top 300 (listed ) of the worlds top 500 universities in the AWRU rankings, which are published by the Center for World-Class Universities at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. 

間眅埶AV is consistently ranked among Canada's top comprehensive universities and is one of the top 50 universities in the world under 50 years old. With campuses in Vancouver, Burnaby and Surrey, B.C., 間眅埶AV engages actively with the community in its research and teaching, delivers almost 150 programs to more than 30,000 students, and has more than 130,000 alumni in 130 countries.
