International Activities
Supervisor of Formation Duale (¶¡ÏãÔ°AV-University François Rabelais, Tours, France) (since 2006)
It is a student exchange program between ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV and Université François Rabelais (Tours, France). Students from all institutions enroll in PDP-French Module (January cohort) and complete one semester in France at a Master level. Once they are recommanded for certification to the BCCT, students from ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV are granted the first year of a M.A. For students from France who are enrolled in the second year of their M.A., I provide supervision for their professional thesis.]
Involved with the Module International en Education en Langue française – M.I.E.L (2010–2012)
In collaboration with James O’Rourke (Coordinator for International programs – ITEM, Faculty of Education, ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV), Daphné Roberts (Faculty Associate for the French Module, Faculty of Education, ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV) and Claude Dionne (French Module Coordinator, Faculty of Education, ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV).
M.I.E.L. seeked to provide to future BC teachers the means to access greater understandings of linguistic and cultural diversity, through theory, practice and lived experience in a Francophone West African country, Mali. Its objectives included a) the development of professional competences in a context of linguistic and cultural diversity as well as cognitive and social diversity, b) the reinforcement of linguistic capacities through the provision of an international francophone context in which students further developed their oral and written competencies in French, and c) the consolidation of institutional relationships between the education community of ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s Faculty of Education and cultural and educational communities overseas and in Canada.
Unfortunately, in 2012, the political situation in Mali put an end to this international initiative.
