¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Educational Review Journal Reaches New Heights: Symposium, Editorial Board and DOAJ

October 08, 2019

By Jacky Barreiro

The ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Educational Review Journal is run by graduate students from the Faculty of Education at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV. The main purpose of the journal is to disseminate graduate student research through providing an inclusive academic community, promoting discussion and reflection, supporting diverse scholarship and more importantly to provide a safe space for peer-to-peer dialogue.

Ed Review’s first issue was published in 2007 and throughout the years has become more prominent within the Faculty.  More recently, under the leadership of Dr. Poh Tan, a doctoral candidate in the eTAP program, the journal has achieved many accomplishments.  In the last year, the journal has become a worthy platform for national and international emerging and established scholars to publish their work. In addition to traditional manuscript based publication, the journal has begun to expand and include diverse types of published scholarship that includes artful scholarship, performance pieces and creative works.

Furthermore, to continue to elevate the credibility of the journal, the editorial team has worked together with the Faculty of Education to create an Editorial Advisory Board. The board is made up of professors in diverse educational fields to provide advice and continuity of the journal.

In addition, the journal is in the process of consideration to be included in the Database of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).  This is a significant accomplishment especially for a graduate student run journal.  DOAJ listed journals adhere to best practices and standards for publishing and being listed on their database further builds on the caliber and quality of the journal.

Lastly, for the first time in the journal’s history, and with support from the Faculty, Education Graduate Student caucus, Grad Student Society, and the Research Hub,  the editorial team is organizing a Symposium on October 19, 2019 to celebrate the work of its published authors.  The Symposium is a place for sharing of knowledge and a conduit for collaborative partnerships and conversations in Education.  Register for the Symposium, meet the editorial team, and immerse yourself in deep dialogue about new and current educational paradigms!  Visit  for all issues and Register for the Symposium .
