Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV: October in Review

October 30, 2023

At ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV, we are committed to fostering a diverse, equitable and inclusive community where every member feels safe, accepted and appreciated.

¶¡ÏãÔ°AV is actively working towards a more inclusive campus, dedicated to ensuring equity for all. Here is a glimpse into the initiatives undertaken by the Equity Office in October.

EDI-Related Supports Are Available

In the past month, the escalation of violence in the Middle East has impacted Jewish, Israeli and Palestinian students, faculty and staff and many other community members with connections to the region. Statements of support made by both President Joy Johnson and Vice-President, People, Equity and Inclusion Yabome Gilpin-Jackson re-emphasized that ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV stands against violence and hate.

We remind our community that all forms of discrimination and hate, including anti-semitism and Islamophobia which have both been on the rise in Canada in recent years, have no place at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV. If you are in need of support during this time, whether to access care, report an incident or review resources, please see our list of identity-based and crises supports and reach out if you need help. For all other supports, see our community support page. We ask everyone in our community to do their part to uphold our ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV values and model equity and belonging by offering care to all at this time.

Bargaining Update: ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV and TSSU Reach Tentative Agreement

Gratitude is extended to all involved parties working to contribute to ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV's future as a thriving hub of knowledge and inclusivity.
