¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Board of Governors Chair, Deputy Chair Re-Appointed

The ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Board of Governors has re-appointed Angie Lamarsh as Board Chair and Paula Martin as Deputy Chair.

Angie Lamarsh was first appointed Board Chair in February 2022 and will continue serving in this capacity until her term as Board member ends on July 31, 2024. The Board will begin the process to nominate and appoint a new Board Chair before the end of Lamarsh’s term.

Angie Lamarsh is currently the Head of Sustainable Finance, Commercial Banking at HSBC Canada. She is also a decorated ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV alumnus who completed a Bachelor of Arts in International Security and Conflict and a Master of Arts in international development. Lamarsh previously served as an elected student representative on the Board before being appointed by order-in-council in 2018. 

Paula Martin joined the Board in January 2020 and was elected Deputy Chair in February 2022. She will continue serving in her role as Deputy Chair until the conclusion of the January 2025 Board meeting. Martin’s term as Board member will continue until January 2026.

As the former Advisor to the CEO of Vancity, Martin directly supported Vancity’s President and CEO in building networks of engagement and worked with the Global Alliance for Banking on Values, as well as other national and international organizations in the values-based banking, sustainable business, financial and co-operative sectors. In addition to her order-in-council appointment to the Board, Martin works in governance and business advisory roles focused on advancing organizational leadership for social and environmental benefit.

The ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV Board oversees the administration of the university, including finances, property and policies. The re-appointment was conducted under University Policy B10.01 and guided by the associated procedures/process to collect and confirm nominees and manage election by secret ballot.
