March 1, 2024
This message is sent on behalf of Dilson Rassier, provost and vice-president academic. It has been sent to all faculty and staff.
This morning, the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills to the international student visa cap announced by the federal government in January.
We are pleased with the approach the provincial government has taken in distributing the 83,000 undergraduate study permits that were allocated for B.C., with 53% of the permits going to public post-secondary institutions. ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s allocation will allow us to continue to deliver on our Strategic Enrollment Plan and increase the international student population all while providing a strong academic and student experience.
International students are a critical part of the ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV community, bringing global perspectives to learning, research, teaching and work. We will continue to ensure that international students who choose to study at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV receive a high-quality education, with the support necessary to help them succeed.
Dilson Rassier, Ph.D.
Provost and Vice-President Academic
