Preparing for winter closure (Dec 25 – Jan 2)
This message has been sent to all faculty and staff.
As we prepare for the scheduled winter closure between December 25 and January 2, we want to share some winter reminders and resources to stay safe, healthy and secure.
Reach out if you need support
The winter months and holiday season can be a difficult time, and ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV has resources in place to support your mental health and well-being. The is available to provide confidential, professional help for you or your family.
Thermostats will be lowered
To reduce greenhouse gases emissions over the break, temperatures will be lowered in most buildings. Buildings that are not normally subject to temperature reductions include: Research labs in Shrum Science Centre, Saywell Hall and Blusson Hall, Childcare Centre, Townhouses & Residence and TASC 2. If you require heat in your area over the closure, email Facilities Services by December 17 at: fmserv@sfu.ca and include the following information: dates: (expected date of presence); times: (expected time of presence); building name; room number and contact person phone number.
Safety on campus
Though campus will be quieter during the closure, there are to keep you feeling supported. A few fast reminders:
- Lock up and secure your belongings, ensuring all doors and windows are locked
- Familiarize yourself with the
- Save the Campus Public Safety (CPS) non-urgent (778.782.7991) and urgent lines (778.782.4500) in your phone
