From Li-Jeen Broshko | Recent changes to University Policies

June 11, 2021

The following message is sent on behalf of Li-Jeen Broshko, General Counsel and University Secretary.

Dear Faculty and Staff members,

I am writing to inform you of the recent changes to University Policies.

New Policy

  • Policy GP47 Bullying and Harassment was approved by the Board of Governors on May 20, 2021 and is now in effect.

Revisions

  • Policy GP18 Human Rights was updated as part of the five-year review process.  Personal harassment has been removed but this policy will continue to apply to discrimination based on race, colour, ancestry, place of origin, religion, marital status, family status, physical or mental disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or age and the University’s Human Rights Office will continue to receive and address complaints about discrimination.

Editorial Amendments

  • Policy GP44 Sexual Violence and Misconduct Prevention, Education and Support was revised slightly to align with Policy GP-47 and GP-18.
  • Policy R20.03 Treatment of Animals in Research and Teaching was updated to correct names of external policies and legislation, to reflect current ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV position titles, and to separate the procedures from the policy.
  • Policy I10.04 Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy was revised in November 2019 to extract the protection of privacy provisions and to create a new Protection of Privacy policy (I10.11).  The remainder of policy I10.04 was renamed Freedom of Information (I10.04) and now includes the schedule of fees for information requests (formerly listed in Policy I10.03), such that Policy I10.03 Freedom of Information Fee Schedule has been repealed.

Policies Repealed

  • Policy I10.03 Freedom of Information Fee Schedule
  • Policy I10.05 Collection of Personal Information
