Yi Cui, Doctor of Science, honoris causa
A trailblazer who has pioneered a new branch of research that tackles some of societys greatest challenges, Stanford Universitys Yi Cui is one of the most cited and influential scientists working today. The professor of materials science has combined his expertise in nanoscience and energy storage to make game-changing breakthroughs in the development of next generation batteries that will power our world.
With more than 550 published studies under his belt and having founded five companies to commercialize technologies developed in his lab, Cui has been recognized by Thomson Reuters as the Hottest Researcher of Today in his field of materials science. In 2023, he became the founding director of Stanford Universitys Sustainability Accelerator, helping to pave the way toward a more sustainable future.
The degree of Doctor of Science, honoris causa, will be conferred on Yi Cui on Thursday, October 10 at the 9:45 a.m. ceremony.
