Matt Thomson
Matt Thomson is the community housing lead for the organization Urban Matters, with over a decade of experience in the community housing sector. He has worked extensively with all levels of government and housing providers to develop community-based analysis of housing needs and demands—analysis that has informed municipal decision-making and development. He has worked on community housing studies and plans across Western Canada, in communities from Wood Buffalo, Alberta, to Victoria, B.C. He has also led work with provincial agencies, including developing housing needs projections for Saskatchewan Housing, managing the research component of the 2018 BC Provincial Homeless Count and acting in a senior advisory capacity on the 2020 BC Provincial Homeless Count. Matt has a master of arts in planning from the University of British Columbia and has worked both as an independent consultant, and in the non-profit sector, with the Social Planning and Research Council of BC.
