Tara Mahoney
Tara Mahoney is a creative engagement practitioner, educator and researcher focused on the climate emergency. With over 15 years of experience in community organizing and a PhD in communication from ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV, she has emerged as a prominent figure in the field of public engagement for climate action.
As the research and engagement lead at ¶¡ÏãÔ°AV’s Community Engaged Research Initiative (CERi), Tara has been at the forefront of innovative projects that bridge the gap between academic research and community-driven solutions. Most recently, she led a participatory action research project that engaged Canadians in evaluating the climate reporting of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), which culminated in the report Quiet Alarm: A Review of CBC’s Climate Reporting.
Prior to her role with CERi, Tara was the co-founder and creative director of Gen Why Media and the research fellow in climate change communications at the David Suzuki Foundation, where she authored the report .
