Dayna Mahannah
Dayna Mahannah (she/her) is a writer based on the unceded lands of the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh speaking peoples, the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, also known as Vancouver. Her work has been published in Loose Lips, HELD Magazine, TRUE Africa, Adbusters, BeatRoute, and NUVO.
She was a contributing editor for BeatRoute Media and the campaign manager at Adbusters. In Ghana, Dayna wrote an arts and lifestyle column for a local newspaper, which included a dating advice section. Her community experience includes co-founding a reading series, volunteering for a children’s literacy program, and mentoring an incarcerated writer. She now works as an editor, teaching assistant and manuscript consultant.
A graduate of The Writer’s Studio and a current MFA candidate at UBC, Dayna is at work on a memoir about power structures and traveling to lose oneself.
