Nycole Harding

Instructor
First Responders Trauma Prevention and Recovery

With a bachelor of education with honours in adult education from Brock University, a masters degree in learning and technology from Royal Roads University, and as an active Mental Health First Aid instructor with the Mental Health Commission of Canada, Nycole Harding brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her teaching role.

After graduating from the EMCA program (Primary Paramedic) in 1989 and working part-time for several services, Nycole continued her career in the emergency responder field as an emergency medical dispatcher.

Having spent two decades in the dispatching world as a communications officer/supervisor with Georgian Ambulance Communications Centre and as a communications training officer (CTO) with the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, Nycole left the field to pursue her true passion: a career in teaching.

So began what would be a 14-year career as a program coordinator and professor at Seneca College, Ontario, from which she retired in December 2015. As the first coordinator and professor in the field of dispatching at Seneca, Nycole was instrumental in the development and running of the 911 and Emergency Services Communications Program. Nycole also coordinated Senecas Police Foundations and Forensic Investigative Studies (post-graduate) programs.

After a brief retirement, boredom set in, and she returned to teaching part-time at Durham College in Oshawa, Ontario. At Durham, Nycole teaches several courses within various disciplines, all related to the first responder world.

Nycole is friendly and approachable with a contagious sense of humour! She is a lover of nature with hiking and kayaking on the agenda, a hobby photographer, and Gramma Extraordinaire who calls Ontario home. With a fresh outlook on life and self-care, she is thrilled to be following her heart by giving back to the community and using her years of experience and education for this great cause.
